How Do I Get Started?

Setting Goals

SMART Goals

Your coach will work with you to create both long term and short term goals to create healthy habits. Goals should be:

  • Specific - saying you are going to 'eat more vegetables' isn't specific (see our IG post for a funny Office clip of Kevin), instead try 'eat a serving of vegetable with lunch, dinner and a snack'

  • Measurable - Measure your progress to increase accountability. Your coach can help with this too. Consider using a paper tracking system or an app to create daily habits.

  • Attainable - Is it something you can do on your own? Goals should be challenging but not impossible

  • Relevant (or realistic) - Make sure your short term goal lines up with your overall health goals

  • Time-bound - Did you know it actually takes 66 days to create a habit? But start small like 1-2 weeks then build from there

Planning

Failing to plan is planning to fail

Work with your coach to plan out the best way to achieve your goals. We'll examine roadblocks that could prevent your from reaching these goals and how to get around them. Remember it needs to work with your lifestyle!

Measuring

How you measure against your goals with depend on the type of goal you set. Not everything is about weight loss!

This could be reviewing routine blood work from your doctor, inch measurements, even just having more energy throughout the day.

Getting Results

Once you begin measuring and seeing results, motivation kicks in and it's on to the next goal. If you don't see the results you are expecting then your coach will review you goal measurements, if you aren't able to follow your planning then we may need to revise your short term goal to something more attainable.

Improving your lifestyle is a process and not an easy one or everyone would already be doing it. Your nutrition coach will be there to help you navigate, overcome obstacles and motivate you along the way!
